Madhuri Dixit recently lost her Guru and dear friend from the industry, veteran choreographer Saroj Khan. The beloved ‘Masterji’ of Bollywood passed away on July 3 after being hospitalised for a week following breathing issues. On the occasion of Guru Purnima on July 5, Madhuri shared a long heartwarming post for Saroj Khan, admitting that she still couldn’t believe that ‘Masterji’ was no more. Now, as Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s iconic 2002 film ‘Devdas‘ clocks 18 years, Madhuri has posted a beautiful video when she and Saroj performed together at a dance reality show to the song ‘Maar Daala’. While the video had been going viral ever since Saroj passed away, what is special about the post is the detailed, heartfelt note that the Dhak Dhak girl has written about her experience of shooting with Saroj ji.
Madhuri began with, “Today as we mark #18YearsOfDevdas I dedicate it to the force behind one of my finest dance performances in the film – Saroj ji,” and added her personal experience of how dedicated they were while filming the song ‘Maar Daala’, all written in pure Hindi which adds to the true emotions of the actress.
Earlier, on Guru Purnima, Madhuri had shared a still from the same time of the set of the dance reality show along with another note.
Speaking of ‘Devdas’, it also starred Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in other lead roles. The film won hearts for the magnanimous sets, beautifully sung and choreographed songs and outstanding performances by Madhuri, Shah Rukh and Aishwarya. The Sanjay Leela Bhansali turned into one of the classics in Indian cinema and continues to inspire many for its sheer grandeur.
Meanwhile, during the lockdown, Madhuri has been spending time with her family and also exploring the singer within her. A few weeks back, the beautiful actress revealed how she always wanted to sing too, but never got to trying it out. But now that she has time, she is pursuing her passion and we must say she is quite good at it!
