We had reported that Mohan Raja would be directing the Tamil remake of Andhadhun, and that he, along with producer Thiagarajan, had met Sriram Raghavan (director of the Hindi original) before working on the script. The latest on the film, which will be headlined by Prashanth, is that it will be directed by JJ Fredrick of Ponmagal Vandhaal fame.

A source says, “Raja was held up with a few things, and so, Thiagarajan approached Fredrick to direct the film. In fact, Fredrick was approached right after his Ponmagal Vandhaal released. The team is planning to begin shooting from December, in Pondicherry.”

We hear that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan might play one of the leads in the film. “The team has approached her to essay Tabu‘s role. They will be making the final announcements soon,” adds the source. If this comes through, Prashanth and Aishwarya will be teaming up again after their blockbuster, Jeans.

Though the structure of the original has been retained, a few key portions have been changed. “The movie is being remade in various south Indian languages. So, the team wants to cast the right people for the roles. Prashanth has lost oodles of weight and will be sporting a new look for the film,” says the source.
