It was a heart-rending moment at PVR Juhu this evening at 5.30 pm when police and BMC officials trooped in to watch ‘Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari‘. PVR and Zee Studios (producers of ‘SPMB’) had taken the initiative and invited the people in question. ETimes has it that 159 people attended and this saw 2 screens at the multiplex being opened, so that such a high number could be accommodated. Each and every attendee seemed very uncomfortable as all precautions were maintained.

The film’s director Abhishek Sharma was present to greet the guests and even watched the film with them. The film’s lead actress Fatima Sana Shaikh was supposed to join but could not make it due to unavoidable circumstances.

Talking to ETimes, Gautam Dutta, CEO of PVR Cinemas, confirmed and said, “Yes, and this show was a part of our goodwill for the Corona warriors. We also got Zee involved. This show was FOC (free of cost) from Zee.”

Assistant Commissioner of BMC, K-Ward Vishwas Mote and a senior cop addressed the warriors, praising them for their herculean effort in fighting the deadly COVID-19 virus.

A source from Zee said, “It was a very emotional moment and it was fitting to have these people, as this is the first film after the havoc that COVID-19 has caused.”

‘Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari’, starring Manoj Bajpayee, Diljit Dosanjh, Fatima Sana Shaikh released on Sunday, November 15- the first Hindi film to hit the big screen after the lockdown was imposed in March- and received quite good reviews. There has been an irregularity in the number of footfalls that have been registered at different hours in a day though, but that was expected as the COVID fear hasn’t gone away and it will take some time before life returns to normal. When is that magical vaccine coming?
