The film’s director Abhishek Sharma was present to greet the guests and even watched the film with them. The film’s lead actress Fatima Sana Shaikh was supposed to join but could not make it due to unavoidable circumstances.
Talking to ETimes, Gautam Dutta, CEO of PVR Cinemas, confirmed and said, “Yes, and this show was a part of our goodwill for the Corona warriors. We also got Zee involved. This show was FOC (free of cost) from Zee.”
Assistant Commissioner of BMC, K-Ward Vishwas Mote and a senior cop addressed the warriors, praising them for their herculean effort in fighting the deadly COVID-19 virus.
A source from Zee said, “It was a very emotional moment and it was fitting to have these people, as this is the first film after the havoc that COVID-19 has caused.”
‘Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari’, starring Manoj Bajpayee, Diljit Dosanjh, Fatima Sana Shaikh released on Sunday, November 15- the first Hindi film to hit the big screen after the lockdown was imposed in March- and received quite good reviews. There has been an irregularity in the number of footfalls that have been registered at different hours in a day though, but that was expected as the COVID fear hasn’t gone away and it will take some time before life returns to normal. When is that magical vaccine coming?
