The big gig organised by Bollywood directors Karan Johar and Zoya Akhtar just seemed to have got an international boost with Hollywood celebrities stepping in to lend their support to the cause. In a new trailer, Nick Jonas and wife Priyanka Chopra, fellow Jonas Brothers Joe Jonas and wife Sophie Turner, Kevin Jonas and wife Danielle along with music legends Bryan Adams and Mick Jagger, Will Smith, ‘Star Wars’ actress Daisy Ridley, actor Jack Black, actress Mindy Kaling and even comedian Lilly Singh have joined in the fundraiser.
The concert that will be live-streamed by Facebook to pay tribute to workers fighting the pandemic also aims at raising funds for more than 100 groups providing food and other essential services during the crisis.
Katrina Kaif shared the trailer to the big event on her Instagram handle with a caption that read, “We bring you India’s biggest at-home concert – #IforIndia, a concert for our times.”
Concert organisers said the money was needed “for those who have no work and no home and do not know where their next meal is coming from”.
Apart from the Hollywood stars stepping in to give this show ab international reach, Bollywood’s biggies including Shah Rukh, Hrithik, Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra, Hrithik Roshan, Arjun Kapoor, Sidharth Malhotra and Anushka Sharma, among many others are expected to perform in this event streamed from the stars’ homes.
The variety show will feature singing, dancing, speeches and standup.
The show airs at 7.30 pm IST.
