One of the prestigious award ceremonies, the Oscars hosted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences made a big announcement recently. According to a report, movies released on streaming services will be eligible for the Oscars, however, only for the 93rd Oscar Awards!

The changes have been made in the wake of Coronavirus pandemic which has impacted the film industry. The academy also stated that it is planning to merge two sound categories into one along with prohibiting DVD screeners for 94th Academy Awards.

Here’s what the official account of the Academy tweeted, “Here’s what you need to know about the #Oscars:

– For this awards year only, streamed films will be eligible for Best Picture

– Going forward, the Sound Mixing and Sound Editing awards will be combined into one category: Best Sound

Also, recently, the Academy mourned the demise of Indian actor Irrfan Khan. They also shared the list of must-watch films of the actor their Twitter account.
