Starring Robert Pattinson as the caped vigilante the film is reportedly inspired by classic noirs like ‘Chinatown’ and ‘Taxi Driver’, and will meet a “very human and very flawed” Bruce Wayne in his second year as Batman. Deviating from the usual comic book hero stories we have seen adapted on the big screen thus far, this one will reportedly see a much younger Batman play Gotham City’s vigilante detective trying to solve a series of crimes.
Among the many sneak peeks the trailer gives us of the supporting cast including Zoë Kravitz’s Catwoman, it also sees a young Burce Wayne zooming around on a motorbike in makes-shift gear before he can assume his part as the Batman.
With just menacing and haunting voiceovers of the mysterious villains, the trailer takes the viewer along into the crime-ridden streets Gotham City. Repeated taunts in the form of notes left at various crime scenes finally lures the vigilante hero out of the shadows to take on the bad guys and declare with a growl, “I’m vengeance.”
From the first look at the costume to glimpses of the different characters to the Batmobile and Batbike to the new Bat logo, this first-ever footage from the much-hyped movie sure left fans wanting more.
Also starring Paul Dano as Edward Nashton; Jeffrey Wright as the GCPD’s James Gordon; John Turturro as Carmine Falcone; Peter Sarsgaard as Gotham D.A. Gil Colson; with Andy Serkis as Alfred; and Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot, the film was delayed due to the COVID-19 lockdown forcing shooting to be postponed.
‘The Batman’ is set to open in theatres October 1, 2021.
