Also there with the family was Ranbir’s girlfriend Alia Bhatt, who did her bit by not only standing by Neetu’s side and comforting her during the last rite rituals but also facetiming with Ranbir’s sister, Riddhima in Delhi so that she too could be a part of the ceremony.
However, even at such a sensitive time, uninformed and insensitive social media users trolled Alia for using her phone at a funeral.
Here are some of the attacks that Alia has been receiving on social media.
Troll Attack 1: Why Alia Bhatt using phone ? Ye bhi koi time hota h kya record karne ka??
Matter of fact, Alia wasn’t taking a video at all, but was on a video call, with Rishi Kapoor’s grieving daughter, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni. Owing to the lockdown, Riddhima couldn’t be physically present at the last rites of her father, hence it was rather thoughtful and kind of Alia to not only make sure that Riddhima saw the proceedings, but also stand in for her and console a bereaved Neetu who was seen weeping through the rituals.
Troll Attack 2: Alia is a bloody drama nautanki. Shame shame.
The only person who needs to be ashamed is YOU! So what if she got emotional at a funeral? Don’t we all? We’re going to be light on you because you don’t know of the bond Alia shared with Rishi in the past two years. In her moving tribute, she not only shared her fondest memories of her time with Rishi but also considered him as a “friend” and “a father!”
We hope and pray that when you do decide to come out of that rock you have been living under, you will see the light and embrace some good values and a little empathy.
Troll Attack 3: Alia plz put your iPhone x inside u r in sad ceremony
What’s more heartbreaking is the fact that uninformed, insensitive and inhumane trolls such as you jump to attack a person, even in her moments of grief. Had you known the purpose behind her holding up her phone, we’d like to assume that you would have had something better and more comforting to say. And now, that you presumably know better, we’d advise that you spend your time more constructively on social media rather than pull people down.
